LOS ANGELES – The Free Speech Coalition (FSC) has launched a new online legislative Action Center designed to help its members track and respond to legislation impacting the adult industry at both state and federal levels. The platform aims to provide timely information and resources to address legislative challenges.

Action Center Overview

The Action Center, launched on November 3, 2022, is an interactive legislative tool that allows FSC members to monitor bills and laws relevant to the adult industry. It provides historical context, analysis, and relevant text for over 50 bills. The issues covered include banking discrimination, restrictions on pleasure products, age verification mandates, challenges to Section 230 protections, device filter requirements, and sex workers’ rights.

According to Alison Boden, Executive Director of the Free Speech Coalition, the adult industry is currently facing an unprecedented number of legislative attacks. Boden stated that these bills could have significant consequences for civil liberties and livelihoods. The Action Center is intended to enable quick responses, facilitate rallying allies, raise awareness, and allow the industry to resist before potential damage occurs.

The Action Center utilizes bill tracking and analysis from FiscalNote. It features an interactive map that displays pending and passed bills on a state-by-state basis, in addition to federal legislation. Keywords relevant to the adult industry are used for real-time tracking of new legislation, as well as for providing text and analysis of pertinent bills.

While the FSC maintains lobbyists at the federal level, monitoring state legislatures has historically presented difficulties. The organization has played a role in stopping or slowing bills such as California’s SB435 and the EARN IT Act in Congress. The Action Center is intended to enhance the industry's ability to respond effectively to legislation.

Funding and Support

The development and operation of the FSC Action Center received funding from lead sponsors Eldorado and Segpay. In addition to these lead sponsors, Doc Johnson, PervOut, and Polari Media have joined as Grassroots Sponsors, providing further support for the initiative.

Upcoming Webinar

The Free Speech Coalition has announced that it will host an Action Center webinar for its members. This webinar is scheduled to take place following the midterm elections, offering further engagement and information regarding the new platform.
