PORTLAND, Oregon — Very disturbing allegations have come out against a local funeral home manager. A former worker of Rose City Cemetery and Funeral Home says he witnessed the manager inappropriately touch and talk about corpses.

The worker admits that he was fired from Rose City Cemetery and Funeral Home, but he says when he was an employee, up to a month ago, he saw gross abuse of corpses and heard racial slurs and sexually abusive comments about corpses. Now the state is investigating.

The Rose City Cemetery and Funeral Home is under investigation by the State Mortuary and Cemetery Board.

A former employee filed the complaint this month. It was posted on an alternative media group’s Web site. In the complaint, the former worker writes that he witnessed Managing Director Mike Orcutt sexually touch corpses.

“The allegations are obviously very serious and we’re treating them that way and the best I can tell you at this point is that the matter is under investigation and I’m sure the board is going to do the rght thing,” David Koach said.

The complaint says in regards to a dead African-American woman: “When she was in her casket, Mr. Orcutt bent down and actually kissed her lips.” The complaint says Mr. Orcutt went on to say racial slurs and sexually explicit comments about the woman’s body.

In another instance with the bodies of two obese women, the complaint says, “Mr. Orcutt freely commented that they were to be called whales, because that is what they were.”

“Cases of this nature get some priority for obvious reasons, so it will depend on what sorts of information we discover and when we’re prepared to take a report to the board,” Koach said.

With our camera rolling we went into Rose City Cemetery and Funeral Home. We asked for Mike Orcutt. A man at the front desk said Ocutt is talking with his attorneys and wouldn’t comment.

Here’s a look at the investigation procedures from here on out. The board will investigate Mike Orcutt. If anything is found, they’ll issue their written disciplinary action that could include revoking his license.

He would have the chance to contest the findings. The board is working with the attorney general’s office. They have the authority to impose an emergency closure if they find it necessary.
