Looks like there’ll be someone new on his arm at the next red carpet event.

from www.usmagazine.com – George Clooney’s girlfriend, Italian model Elisabetta Canalis, is being investigated after a witness says she saw Canalis snorting cocaine at a Milan nightclub in 2007.

According to 26-year-old model-turned-prostitute Karima Menad, Clooney’s girlfriend took the drug twice while partying at The Club, which is currently under investigation.

“I remember taking cocaine with Elisabetta Canalis and two others,” Menad told prosecutors in 2008 in documents obtained by Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera.

At the time Canalis, 31, was not yet romantically involved with Clooney; she began dating the actor in 2009.

“We were in The Club and it was December 2007,” Menad continued. “We had been at a party of some famous, rich celebrity whose name I cannot remember. I don’t remember who brought the drugs but we all took it.”

Menad’s testimony emerged after prosecutor Frank Di Maio used it as part of his official request to have the owners of The Club held in custody as the inquiry continued.

Another famous Milan hotspot, Hollywood, is also under investigation after patrons were secretly filmed using drugs in the restrooms.

According to RadarOnline, Menad’s testimony allowed prosecutors to seize and shut down the nightclubs on July 26 and put five of the main offenders under house arrest.

Women were previously brought into the nightclubs to entertain customers at the private tables, Radar reports.

“Their job was to encourage these customers to drink alcohol as to increase the table’s bill, followed up by sex off premises,” Di Maio stated in the documents. “They were often given cocaine for free by those who want to sit at a table of famous people…they want the visibility that comes from being seated at a central table, and to be seen with models, or celebrities from fashion, entertainment and sport.”

Clooney, 49, began dating the stunning Italian TV host, model and actress last year.

They share the bachelor actor’s picture-perfect Italian villa on Lake Como.
