(SACRAMENTO, CA) — Stunts and gimmicks make or break entertainers. Positive or negative press can boost someone’s career, in any angle of entertainment. How do you know if what you’re doing as a gimmick will really work for, or against you? And, does it matter?
Many in the porn world have attempted some really cheesy things for popularity. Faking one’s funeral is a popular one that this biz has seen before. Many times people stage fist fights or public arguments through the media, just to get their name in print a few times.

The media ain’t stupid. They may play along once and a while, on a slow news day, but the big boys in this line of work, usually don’t print that trash.

So why is Mary Carey gettin’ the love lately?

Probably because she took her stunt to a new level. She who obviously has less of a political knowledge then Arnold [and that’s bad], hired a team of people to guide her through enough situations to make it slightly credible until the final exams come. She seems to have gotten enough signatures to be an official candidate and she is staying true to her gimmick.

Many people do the gimmick thing but after a couple of headlines, they fold. Carey is scheduling appearances everywhere she can to keep the gimmick alive. Places like Leno, Stern, The Wanker Show on KSEXradio and multiple photo shoots and interviews with publications. She’s signing autographs at the court house and spending night and day convincing herself that she is someone the people of California need.

Obviously she has a slim chance of actually winning this thing. Ronald Reagan in his current near vegetable state would probably get more votes than she will. But, the fact remains, her popularity is shooting up and you can’t take that away from her. Her website will profit from it, her feature dancing rates will rise, her movies will be sold at a higher and faster rate and she will be in demand for the next few months.

Yes, this will eventually die out but until then, she’s capitalizing on it and as a result, charting her own course to the Porn Star Hall of Fame. Think I’m exaggerating? If she becomes an official candidate, she becomes an official part of history. Meaning your children may learn about her in school. Scary I know. But since the average porn fan can’t name three or more porn stars, this is a good move for her to be listed in their minds as one of those first two.

Mary is doing it right. A lot of people push themselves in funny ways and do stunts and stuff for fame. I like how she hasn’t let down about it. I ain’t votin’ for her, but I sure as hell think she’s doing a good thing.
