Florida- from www.wjhg.com – The three corporations owned by “Girls Gone Wild” owner Joe Francis could be on the verge of losing a long-running civil damages lawsuit in Panama City Federal Court.
Joe Francis has had seven months, and four time extensions to find court ordered legal representation for his firms, and he has failed to do so. That’s the argument made by the attorney for four women who claim Francis and his “Girls Gone Wild” crews made explicit Spring Break videos of them, even though some were underage at the time.
The attorney is asking Judge Richard Smoak to enter a default judgment against Mantra Films, M. R. A. Holdings, and Aero Falcon LLC.
Judge Smoak had granted Francis one final extension, which expired one week ago. That final extension included a warning that a default judgment would be entered if legal counsel had not been obtained for the corporations by that deadline.
Francis has been unable to hire attorneys because of IRS tax liens and his failure to pay his former attorney, who quit in march.
Unlike corporations, Francis and other individuals are not required to have
legal counsel.
