Porn Valley- Did DVSX director Guy Capo open a can of worms on his KSEX show, www.ksexradio.com Tuesday night? Gosh, we hope so. In a discussion with Joe Friday about Friday’s directorial debut, Uniform Babes, Capo had a couple of provocative points to make.
Capo asked Friday how he liked directing. “It was a fun ride,” said Friday. ” I’ll say that. There was some rough spots but we’re going to work them out.” It was also mentioned that Capo is editing the movie. To which Capo, commenting about “rough spots” stated that directing totally changes your perspective about how to shoot.
Making another very good point, Capo said that he felt talent should NOT direct, and that directors should not be talent.
“I think that anybody who wants to make their own porn films should first learn how to edit,” Capo stated. “I’m a very strong proponent of these theories. It’s very, very challenging to try and cover both those bases at once and far too often your own personal preferences get worked into the film and supercede the vision you’re truly trying to communicate. That’s first and foremost.
“Second of all,” Capo continued, ” you should learn how to edit and I’m talking to all you piss-poor pornographers out there who do a hack job behind the camera then turn it over to a hack editor who turns it over to a hack DVD replicator and you, the consumer, at home, end up with a hack product that you are disappointed in. I’m trying to desperately change that for you on a daily basis.”
Capo said he learned how to edit before he learned how to shoot. “Because when you edit you understand the principles of shooting much better and you begin to format your entire thinking differently – how you need to approach each and every scene; each and every angle; each and every shot. It all changes when you learn how to edit.”
