Prominent feature dancer and adult film performer Holly Halston has now set up a dedicated political action page on her website, at http://www.hollyhalston.com/holly-pac.htm. Says Holly,
“I have been very troubled for some time about the way this country has suffered as a result of media conglomeration. It has resulted not only the repression of dissenting voices, but now threatens corruption of our democracy itself. We are organizing boycotts of Sinclair advertisers all over the swing state of Florida. We are demanding that if Sinclair proceeds with any part of the shameful smear documentary they are trying to shove down the throats of the American public, they must give fair and equal time to the president’s opponent.”
Holly has planned demonstrations every day between now and the election, since it is clear that Sinclair is planning to air at least some portion of their free political commercial for the Bush administration regardless of public outcry. But through and beyond Nov. 2, the web page will be an ongoing organizing node seeking policy initiatives to reverse the stranglehold that a handful of media conglomerates now have on political and social discourse in this country.
Holly adds, “Everyone I talk to is very excited about this. We’re not going take it anymore lying down when it comes to corporate media domination. The wonderful thing about the internet is it could be the last best hope for free speech and equal justice. Won’t you join me in the cause?”
