How Convenient: O.J.’s Ghostwriter Destroyed “Confession” Tapes

Los Angeles- The ghostwriter for the now-infamous O.J. Simpson book “If I Did It” said that he and a lawyer shredded the audiotapes of the interviews he did with The Juice.

Pablo Fenjves told Star Jones the tapes belonged to Simpson, and Simpson wanted them destroyed. So that’s exactly what Fenjves did.

“Tapes, no, I don’t have them anymore,” Fenjves said in an interview with Jones. “As a matter of fact, one of the attorneys came over to collect the tapes. And we stood in my kitchen. And we shredded them.”

Fenjves told Jones that he didn’t even make a back-up tape of the interview for himself.

“Pablo did not make a copy,” he said.

“If I Did It” is an account of how Simpson would have killed his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman if he’d done it. The former football great says it was hypothetical, but the Goldman and Brown families and others were outraged by the project and said it proves Simpson got away with murder.

Simpson was acquitted of the 1994 slayings of Brown Simpson and Goldman, but was held liable for their deaths by a civil court. Last week, he was released on bail for his alleged role in a hotel sports memorabilia heist in Las Vegas. He’s awaiting trial on several criminal charges.

Star Jones, a former co-host at ABC’s “The View,” now has her own talk show on Court TV.
