Alexis Tae, a two-time XBIZ Female Performer of the Year nominee, has entered her fourth year in the adult industry, focusing on balancing her career with a better quality of life. Tae, who began her career in 2019, has transitioned from a demanding hardcore performance schedule to prioritizing quality and diverse roles, including a significant increase in girl/girl scenes.
Early Career and Industry Entry
Alexis Tae, born on October 20, 1997, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, started her adult industry career in 2019 at the age of 21. Prior to entering the industry, Tae had no other sex work experience. Her background includes competitive track and field athletics and violin performance. Tae's journey into adult entertainment began with research after she was waitressing and seeking a performance outlet. She initially explored camming after seeing a "Looking for Models" ad on Craigslist, which led her to a cam studio in Pittsburgh. Dissatisfied with the studio's cut, she researched how to cam independently and discovered a list of porn agents.
In November 2018, Tae began contacting prospective agents. She credits John at East Coast Talent as her first agent, who helped her navigate the industry. Her initial shoots in January 2019 included a girl/girl and a solo scene. Six months into her career, Tae performed her first anal scene for True Anal, which led to her embracing the "anal queen" persona. Within her first 18 months, she appeared in over 100 scenes and secured an exclusive anal contract with TrueAnal.
Navigating Challenges and Content Creation
Tae's initial career trajectory was impacted by the Great COVID Interruption of 2020. Before the shutdown, in January 2020, a new California labor law required performers to incorporate as businesses, a process Tae delayed. By the time she addressed this, COVID-19 had halted production. During the two-year shutdown, Tae focused on content creation, producing content daily. She licensed her at-home content with Adult Time and gained experience in self-production, marketing, and distribution, noting that "POV anal sells."
After production resumed, Tae engaged in "collabs," working with close friends who provided guidance on paperwork, hard drives, backups, and organizing digital files. She learned editing and how to upload content to various websites beyond OnlyFans. Tae also addressed industry practices related to labeling performers. As a mixed and Black performer, she noted that when she started, there were few performers like her, placing her in a "niche" market, which became even more specific after she began performing anal scenes. She observed that older industry titles could be openly racist and that she sometimes lost scenes because of her race, particularly in boy/girl/girl scenarios where a Black co-performer's cancellation meant she could not shoot with a white performer or alone. Tae also noted that newer companies often take over a year to begin shooting Black women, regardless of their popularity or sales performance. She challenged the notion that "Black-on-Black" content does not sell, citing Black women and men as some of the highest-paid content creators.
Finding Balance and New Directions
Currently in her fourth year in the industry, Alexis Tae is focusing on work-life balance. She has shifted from a "heavy hardcore performer" image, where she did almost no girl/girl scenes, to prioritizing features and acting roles, with most of her current work being girl/girl. She has completed two girl/girl features: a production about chefs for Dorcel and a James Avalon-helmed project for Adam & Eve. For the Adam & Eve project, she worked with Kenna James and Kylie Rocket, in a scene that involved Seth Gamble. Tae expressed enjoyment working with James Avalon, Casey Calvert, Ricky Greenwood, Ricky Johnson, Jackie St. James, and the Adult Time crews. She aims for quality over quantity in her current work, having previously focused on quantity earlier in her career. Tae has also made time for travel, her cats, and dating. She is represented by East Coast Talents and is a Spiegler Girl.
