Not the director, gotcha…this Cameron was Maine’s former top drug prosecutor
from www.myfoxmaine.com – The trial of James Cameron, the state’s former top drug prosecutor who’s facing more than a dozen counts of child pornography, started Monday in federal court.
Cameron was indicted in February 2009 after the internet service provider Yahoo! told state police about pornographic images on an account that was traced back to Cameron’s wife.
If convicted, Cameron could face up to 30 years in prison.
AP: PORTLAND, Maine — The lawyer for a former Maine prosecutor accused of possessing child porn says the defendant had no access to the images in question.
Defense lawyer Michael Cunniff says explicit photographs allegedly obtained from the defendant’s home computers and Yahoo servers are “technological camouflage” for a lack of proof.
James Cameron, Maine’s former top drug prosecutor, is charged with 10 counts of sending child pornography, four counts of receiving it and one count of possessing it.
He served as an assistant attorney general in Augusta until the state police investigation became public in 2008. His trial got under way on Monday. He requested that the evidence be weighed by a judge instead of a jury.
