Jason Sechrest, named the most powerful journalist in the porn industry by Arena Magazine, was in a near fatal car accident Friday night and almost powerfully killed himself. Sechrest, the scribe whose reviews make the industry shudder, according to Arena, reported the incident on his KSEX show during an interlude in which is mother was practically ushered out of the station’s chat room for making comments deemed inappropriate.
“That was fun-that was great,” said Sechrest not talking about what happened to his mother, but himself. Sechrest, who was several minutes late for his show, said he had been haggling on the phone with insurance companies. “Can we call it a near fatal car accident just so that the headlines will be really dramatic,” Sechrest said. “Like those gossip columnists we hate will be like, Sechrest damn near kills himself in car wreck- insists it’s not his fault though driving under the influence! They’ll start making shit up.”
On the Arena issue, Sechrest questioned how he managed to get on it. “I’m the only gay person to be on the list. And one of the only journalists to be on the list. It’s insane. I’m so flattered and think it’s so amazing. To be on a Top 50 power list is just incredible.” Sechrest said he called them up, thinking they were wrong.
[Jason thought he should have been listed higher- just kidding.]
“What makes me powerful?” Sechrest wanted to know. He was told that companies were called and that when he reviews product or talks about it on his show, sales go through the roof. Or if Sechrest says something bad about it, no one will buy it.
Under those conditions, Legend Video must have gone out of business several months ago when Sechrest stated on air that he never heard of the company.
