from www.villagevoice.com – John Holmes was the late 1970s porn star with the large endowment, the larger coke addiction, and the possible involvement in the famous Wonderland massacre of vengeful mayhem. (He was there and charged, but ultimately let go for lack of evidence.)
Amazingly, his then-teen girlfriend Dawn Schiller survived and grew up and has even written a book called The Road Through Wonderland, with forewords by the stars of the 2003 movie Wonderland, Val Kilmer and Kate Bosworth.
But Schiller starts the book by saying the movie was as fraudulent as a photoshopped penis.
She writes:
“When James Cox, the director, told me he’d cut the scene in which John beat me after selling me off to [gangster/dealer] Eddie Nash for drugs, I felt as if John were choking the air out of me again.
“Why would James do this? He was honest with me: It was because the audience couldn’t handle seeing John hit me. They wouldn’t ‘like’ John or be sympathetic to him.”
And it’s important that an audience like an abusive, drug-addicted sleazebag, after all!
