Judge Closes Fun Fair Video Store in Downtown D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – After several months of legal battling, a judge has required an adult video store to shut down until a hearing in January.

Fun Fair Video, located near the the Convention Center, has a license to run and operate as a video store. However, it mainly carries sexually oriented videos.

The District claims that that license specifically prohibits sexually oriented materials. The owners of Fun Fair are calling the city laws unconstitutional. They say the regulations violate their First Amendment rights. The owners have asked the judge to throw out the city’s laws regulating sexually oriented stores to certain parts of the city, as unconstitutional.

The city responded to neighborhood complaints, which prompted action against the video store.

A hearing is scheduled to take place January 18,2008 to decide whether the video store can reopen or close for good.
