Kevin Blatt posts on http://kbtalks.com/talk/: Great things happening in the world of Reality TV and the production of my new show The Ultimate Ultimate Challenge in case you missed the latest round of publicity I’ll put it here for you to read-
PROTEST ON SATURDAY
PORN PRODUCER PERPETUATES GAY STEREOTYPES AND OBJECTIFICATION OF WOMEN WITH HIS NEW REALITY SHOW
This Saturday, July 16, at 1980 UNION STREET, San Francisco, CA, a protest is scheduled at the auditions of a reality show titled the Ultimate Ultimate Challenge. The show’s producers have been making offensive statements about the gay community and misogynistic comments on how women will have to compete during the competition.
In a recent radio interview one of the show creators said, “We already have our gay character, so we’re looking for other types of people.” Other types of people? Perhaps they’re now simply looking for the “uppity black” character? Or the submissive Asian woman?
The show’s Executive Producer, the same person who puts out celebrity sex tapes (best known for making public the Paris Hilton Sex Tape and now the Colin Ferrell Sex Tape), claims that “no woman will have to do anything they’re not of age to do.”
If Reality TV has taught us one thing, it is that our society is suggestible. Do not allow Reality TV to force-feed the public blanket stereotypes, or exploit people for purely entertainment purposes.
We need to educate the public and let television Networks know that this is unacceptable programming, that it is counter-productive to all who have been spending years fighting for gay rights, women’s rights, human rights.
YOUR VOICE NEEDS TO BE HEARD! THIS SATURDAY, JULY 16TH FROM 1-4 PM ACROSS THE STREET FROMU STREET LOUNGE, 1980 UNION STREET, San Francisco, CA 94105
KB continues: Now this is pure comedy. It’s amazing that in a town with so much cultural diversity, I’d be accused of being “racist”. Perhaps they had no idea the producer of this horrendous show is a “greedy Jew”.:-))
Speaking of reality TV shows- How bad is this Rockstar ( INXS) Show on CBS? Horrendous editing and horribl chemistry between Brooke Burk and Dave Navarro. This show simply doesn’t work for me. I was a huge fan of INXS back in college and remember seeing them about 8 times in my life. It’s a real shame that Michael Hutchence killed himself. Then again if I were the front guy for a band capable of making such an atrocious decision to make a tv show recruiting for their new lead singer- I’d hang myself too.
Simply amazing the reach that cable television has these days. I guess you never really think about the number of people who watch national and international news on a daily basis. Having been on CNN last night as well as tonight, it’s always a trip when my phone starts ringing off the hook every hour on the hour after someone, somewhere sees my fat face on TV.
As a publicist, I have to admit, it is a lot of fun. I often enjoy coming up with quick quips on the fly when being interviewed, and I am often referred to as a “walking soundbite”. Being on 20/20 was HUGE for me. Howard Stern was an incredible experience as well.
However when you factor in the total cume of viewers/listeners- it’s nothing in comparison to CNN or FOX NEWS.People travelling on planes saw me, people back home in Cleveland saw me. Old teachers and employers saw me, all my old friends who are broke saw me…hold on I’ll be right back, there goes my phone again.:-))
