from www.examiner.com – The Nightclub and Bar publication just released its 2012 Top 100 bars in the US in revenue generation, with rankings based on estimates of nightclub venue’s total revenue for 2011.
Eight of the top ten are on the Las Vegas Strip, including the number 1 ranked Marquee club at Cosmopolitan which generated a record $70 – $80 million last year. Overall, 22 clubs in Las Vegas made the Top 100 list with 15 in the top 30.
Marquee was among 22 newcomers to the top 100 list, and their total revenue of more than $70 million was a record for a first year nightclub. The venue opened in late 2010.
One fourth of the top 100 venues are located in California (15 in Los Angeles alone), with 22 in Vegas, ten in New York City, five in Chicago, and four in Texas.

2. XS at Encore Las Vegas ; $60 – $70 million
3. TAO at Venetian Las Vegas ; $60 – $70 million
4. Pure at Caesars Palace Las Vegas ; $45 – 60 million
5. LIV in Miami Beach ; $35 – $45 million
6. LAX at Luxor Las Vegas ; $35 – $45 million
7. Haze at Aria Las Vegas ; $35 – $45 million
8. Surrender at Encore Las Vegas ; $35 – $45 million
9. The Bank at Bellagio Las Vegas ; $25 – $35 million
10. LAVO in New York City ; $25 – $35 million
Other Vegas clubs making the top 100 list include LAVO (12th) at Palazzo, Tryst (13th) at the Wynn, Vanity (19th) at the Hard Rock, Ghostbar (20th) and Rain (42nd) at the Palms, and Drai’s Afterhours (21st) at Bill’s Gamblin Hall .
