Porn Valley- Getting tickets to the Legends of Erotica Show in January is probably a lot easier than it is to get one of its inductees- Midori- to return a phone call. But we’ll get to that issue in a moment.

Arrow Productions, which puts on the event, has now made tickets available online either at www.legendsoferotica.com or www.xxxdeepthroat.com

The show’s set for Friday, January 11, 2008 at Showgirl Video, 631 S. Las Vegas Blvd. in Las Vegas. Tickets will also be available at the Arrow/PAW booth during the AEE show.

Back to Midori. When I told Bill Margold, who will be emceeing the event, about my Midori drama he thought it was a good story all by itself and that I ought to relay it. Here it is.

A couple of weeks ago when I first contacted her to do an interview, Midori returned the call several hours later. Sounding like she was all for it, Midori said because she was now working at Evasive Angles it wasn’t easy to talk during the day. Hence, she told me she’d call back later at 2pm- apparently her lunch break- to chat. She didn’t call back. And when I left a message again wondering if there had been a foul up in communication, she didn’t return that call either.

Waiting a couple of days, I left a message that weekend and didn’t hear back as well. But that Monday Midori called in the morning and said the evening would probably be a better time to talk. I left another message at 7:30 pm when she didn’t pick up, and Midori called back at 9 saying she was still at Evasive Angles and could we now do this in the morning when she’s more refreshed. Besides, she said, it was raining, and that she rides a scooter to work and had to contend with that.

Midori also said she usually got to work around 10 am and would have maybe an hour to talk then. I called the following morning at the designated time and was told Midori was running late. Meanwhile, she had tried contacting me saying pretty much the same thing and would call as soon as she got to work. She didn’t call.

The next morning I called her at work again and was told she wouldn’t be in at all. I left one more message for her, and she has yet to return that call. And it’s been well over a week.

In the meantime, here’s some more Midori tidbits.

She was born on July 19, 1968 in Durham, North Carolina and is the younger sister of Grammy Award winning R&B singer Jody Watley.

According to some postings on the Internet, Midori’s career didn’t start with porn. She made her first appearance in the Eddie Murphy comedy Coming to America in 1988 (she was one of the bathers).

She was also featured in Rodney Evans’ 1996 documentary The Unveiling, which also features burlesque legend Dixie Evans.

Midori was also a background singer for various rock groups, worked as a model for mags such as Elle, toured with a theatrical stage play, and served as a hair model for Vidal Sassoon.

It was in 1995 that Midori did her first hardcore video – David Christopher’ Pussyman Auditions 3. But it took her almost a year to decide if she really wanted to be a porn performer.

Once she made that decision, she was picked up by Video Team where she made her mark. With Video Team Midori also wrote and directed her own movies and worked with many other studios as well.

Midori was named “Best New Starlet” of 1997 at the first annual Black Adult Entertainment Awards show. And she was the first African-American woman to be trophy girl at the 1997 AVN Awards show.

Midori’s also the first female Afro-American to win an AVN Award for her performance in the porn drama Westside with Lexington Steele and Inari Vachs. In addition Midori has been honored with over 10 awards, titles & nominations in the history of adult entertainment worldwide.

Midori has also graced the pages of Players, Hustler, Blacktail, High Society, Adam’s Black Video Illustrated, Adult Cinema, Sista, Oui International, De’Unique, AVN, has been featured on “Hard Copy”, Vibe Magazine, BET’s Raw & Naked Comedy Show, Playboy’s Naughty girl Next Door, Playboy’s Adult Star Closeup Show, Playboy’s Women of Color Video. Midori, likewise, had a recurring role on Showtime’s “Butterscotch” show.

In her career as a singer, she recorded a duet in 1997 with Oran Juice Jones at Tommy Boy Records. In 1999 she had one track on the Porn To Rock compilation and was background dancer and singer for Kid Rock.

Kid Rock also produced one track for the Deep Porn (2000) compilation with her. Midori has another track – produced by Wide – on this compilation as well.

In 2000 and 2001 Midori released two CDs with her own music – one featuring dance music tracks, the other Hip-Hop and Rap. In 2003 she recorded a CD single: Who’s Hustlin’ Who.

The Midori- Kid Rock affair led to a pregnancy.

In an interview with nyrock.com, Kid Rock called her “a complete psycho”.

NYROCK: I thought you were involved with Midori….
KID ROCK: That’s history. We’re finished. I’ve had it with her.
NYROCK: Wow, most guys wouldn’t break up with a porn star – or did she expect too much?
KID ROCK: Ha ha ha, come on it wasn’t that. She was a great fucker, but a complete psycho.

www.Talkingblue.com ran a story about the pregnancy in 1999:

“Porn actress Midori, previouslly best known for being the sister to pop diva Jodi Watley, has said that she is currently on an indefinite hiatus from adult movies, in part because of her recent pregnancy by rap star boyfriend Kid Rock.

Midori, once a contract performer for Video Team, met Rock when she toured with the rapper. The couple began dating in February of this year. The actress found out that she was pregnant two weeks ago while she was working on a record that she plans to release.

Reached for comment, Midori said, ‘I’m not sure exactly what I’m going to do but I need time to myself to think.’ As to the father and their relationship, the actress added, ‘Things are rocky at the moment and I have not made a final decision about motherhood.’

A follow-up story reads:

“Midori, previously reported as pregnant with the child of rock singer Kid Rock, has announced that she has terminated the pregnancy and is returning to her dance career.

‘I could have gone through with the pregnancy, but it would have been for all the wrong reasons,’ the actress has said. The porn starlet, who initially shot to fame for being the sister of pop singer Jodi Watley, said that she is thinking about returning to videos but has to deal with her personal issues first.”
