The N.Y. Post is having a field day at the expense of hoity-toity Beverly Hills Law firm Lavely & Singer. However Lenz’s law firm can’t seem to serve a subpoena on the right people.
The NY. Post writes: “IF law firm Lavely & Singer had egg on its face after we reported how it served the wrong women with lawsuits meant for Bijou Phillips and Casey Johnson, now it has enough to make an omelet.
PAGE SIX reported this week that the overbearing L.A. firm – which regularly tries to bully journalists on behalf of Bruce Willis, Sylvester Stallone, Eddie Murphy, Jim Carrey and other celebrities – sent a process server to the Gansevoort Hotel last Tuesday to ambush Phillips and Johnson, who were supposed to walk in the Charlotte fashion show that night.
Phillips, an actress, and Johnson, the socialite daughter of Jets owner Woody Johnson, are named in a $1 million battery and slander suit filed by model Nicole Lenz.
Phillips and Johnson never showed up at the Charlotte show, but Lavely & Singer’s clueless crony apparently didn’t get the memo – and insisted on serving the papers to attendees Vanessa Fernandez and Corrine Masucci.
After we reported the screw-up, lathered-up Lavely & Singer lawyer Paul S. Berra fired off a three-page legal letter demanding “an immediate retraction and apology.” It huffed that “the Post has maliciously attacked Lavely & Singer for no legitimate reason whatsoever.” Fernandez and Masucci told a different story. “Your article was very accurate,” Masucci said. “This guy pushed the papers on us when we were leaving. He was like, ‘Bijou! Casey!’ We’re like, ‘We’re not these people.’ We were laughing at him.”
Fernandez added: “He was waiting for us when we left. He thought I was Bijou and Corrine was Casey. I said, ‘I’m not Bijou.'”
Another witness, publicist Kris Norman, told us: “The girls were bewildered. The guy said, ‘Don’t lie to me.’ He was being rude and stupid. He was just belligerent. Finally, they were like, ‘OK, we’ll take them.’ Even [hairdressers] Edward Tricomi and Joel Warren were like, ‘This is not them.’ They gave Casey’s file to the blond one and Bijou’s to the dark-haired one.”
We forwarded a picture of a grinning Fernandez and Masucci holding the lawsuits to Berra, whose fiery tone suddenly became as gentle as a lamb. After several minutes of filibustering, Berra meekly admitted that he had “serious concerns” about the identity of the women served after seeing our picture.
Let this be a lesson to the blustering barristers of L&S: Get your facts straight before you try and push PAGE SIX around.”
