from www.dailybreeze.com - Singer, actor, reality star and Kim Kardashian sex-tape maker Ray-J would like to add another title: mayor of Carson.
In an interview with AllHipHop.com, Ray-J - real name William Raymond Norwood Jr. - was asked about his aspirations outside of music and television.
"I'ma be mayor of Carson," he said.
"Not now," he continued. "I still got a lot of learning to do. Focusing and a lot of reaching back out to the community, and paying my dues. But in the future coming around the stretch, you know, I do see myself doing stuff like that."
Ray-J, 29, is the brother of R&B star and actress Brandy and grew up in Carson, population 92,000.
Among his reasons for a possible political turn: inspiring young African-Americans to choose a career as a mayor, doctor or lawyer rather than be drawn in by what they see in hip-hop and the music industry, which he said has "got a lotta people clouded."
Said Ray-J: "And they think that's the only way to go. Or to put out a sex tape to be successful. That (expletive) is wack.
"You gotta go out and use your true talent and read and learn and if I can inspire that throughout everything I been through then let me be a reason."
An attempt to contact Ray-J through his last known record company, Entertainment One, was unsuccessful.
Jim Dear, the current mayor of Carson, said he's impressed that a young person would be interested in serving the city in elective office.
