Making Adult Films Right Here, Y’all

Arlanta- It may be shocking for some to learn, but some of the hottest addresses in Atlanta may have also been some of the hottest backdrops for adult movie making.

While covering the case of accused Sugarloaf madam Lisa Taylor, 11Alive News learned that more than her home may have been used as a location for filming porn.

The so-called Mansion Madam, Lisa Taylor [aka Melissa Wolf] said that her Sugarloaf subdivision home has been the backdrop for many music videos and adult productions — for which she charges up to $1,000 a day.

“It’s all done very discretely and tastefully, and I don’t want to put any burden on my neighbors,” said Taylor. “The blinds are always closed.”

While some were surprised to hear about the goings on, some say in Metro Atlanta, it is not all that unusual.

“Atlanta is definitely the hot spot of the South, except for the Miami area,” said Mike South.

Adult video producer South estimated that at least three or four adult videos are made in Metro Atlanta each week — many for internet distribution.

“Over the years, I’ve probably done over 1,000 adult productions in the Metro Atlanta area,” South said.

He also said many locations would surprise many people.

“Lake Oconee, Sugarloaf, Country Club of the South, some houses over by the governor’s mansion, Tuxedo, Blackland, that area, of course Dunwoody,” said South.

That news had Atlanta city councilwoman and Buckhead neighborhood activist Mary Norwood shocked.

“I’m stunned,” she said. “There has been no indication; no information; no knowledge whatsoever that anything like that is going in my own neighborhood, not in Tuxedo Park.”

South said his right to produce adult videos in private homes has never been challenged in courts here in Georgia, though it has been in California.

In that state, the adult filmmaker prevailed. Technically, South said, it isn’t illegal, but it is a grey area.

But Norwood said adult filmmaking violated zoning laws.

“Our laws are very specific,” Norwood said. “You cannot have in a residential neighborhood an adult establishment and this becomes an adult establishment because its a for profit production company doing movies.”

The other neighborhoods south mentioned had little comment.

South said residents have invited him to his locations, but Norwood said he’s uninvited in Buckhead.

“It is in his best interest to never be seen in this neighborhood again,” said Norwood.

But in a flourishing business that’s so far unchallenged in Georgia, adult cameras could be rolling anywhere.

South did not disclose specific addresses he has used for adult videos.

Coincidentally, violating the city’s zoning code could result in a $1,000 fine and up to six months in jail.
