BOROUGH PARK, N.Y. from www.kfsm.com – She wanted Dr. Evil, but instead a Brooklyn Grandmother got an evil she never bargained for.
Turns out, at the end of the Austin Powers movie Esther Klein borrowed from the Brooklyn Public Library was the hard core porn flick “What Happens When The Wife is Away.” Klein borrowed the Mike Myer’s movie for her three grandchildren, ages 7 to 15.
Luckily, Klein says the children did not see the x-rated images.
“I make sure I screen all movies I take out before we watch them together,” Klein told PIX News.
She says she almost fell off her chair when she got to the end of the film that is rated PG-13.
“I couldn’t believe my eyes,” Klein said.
Assemblyman Dov Hikind [pictured] is just as outraged. He is calling for the library to pull all its VHS tapes and to instead only loan out DVD’s that can’t be recorded on, so no children are accidentally exposed to graphic sex acts.
Several psychologists who spoke with PIX News said the images could be devastating for young children to see.
Believe it or not, this isn’t the first porn-related incident the public library has had. In fact, Hikind says it has happened several times before, when people borrowed PG or PG -13 rated films and at the end found hard core pornography.
Brooklyn Public Library says it would be unfair to pull every VHS tape, due to the large number of customers who haven’t upgraded to DVD players.
The Library admits since January, 18 tapes out of 35-thousand were recorded over with porn, but told PIX News the man responsible was busted and to their knowledge all the altered cassettes were removed.
“BPL reported the incident to the police and an arrest was made,” the library made in a statement. “This is the only tape that has been found to be tampered with since the investigation.”
Klein can only hope no others slipped through the cracks.
“This was very bad stuff,” Klein said.
