Porn Valley- Since last Thursday night when progam director/part owner Wankus got fired on air by majority owner Jon Belinkie to an audience of no one since KSEX hasn’t been broadcasting audio since May 3, the rumor mill’s been grinding the pepper of KSEX gossip almost hourly.
The latest story is that maybe six peejays are leaving the station headed by one of the biggest names in the business. None of this has been confirmed as yet but this is the strong chatter. Whether this exodus would be out of loyalty to Wankus or the fact that Belinkie’s known for his warm, ingratiating ways, is hard to say.
There’s also suspicions that the new program director, Lorrainiac, who’s been a mainstream deejay, may face problems because she doesn’t have experience in that type of management spot.
The new management has also announced a launch date of June 1. Bottom dollar is they’re at least 15-30 days behind that schedule and will be lucky to get things rolling in the new location by the end of June. And don’t forget, KSEX announced a similar move in the past to the Valley which was put on indefinite hold because of Steinbrenner-type meddling from higher ups in the KSEX organization which pissed off the potential landlord.
Then to make matters extremely confusing was a statement made this week by the new VP and Marketing Manager over at KSEX, Joe Brandi. Brandi in a post stated the following: “Having a membership based website with under 100 paid members and an average of 10 people tuned in is ridiculous. It was time to realize that KSEX was non existent outside of the adult industry and the previous system failed dramatically no matter how much ‘magic’ was supposed to appear. This is business 101. Losing money = failure ….and that is not accepted any longer.”
Brandi’s statement regarding KSEX membership numbers was then totally contradicted in a story posted under Tod Hunter’s byline on Xbiz. Quoting Belinkie, Hunter writes: “The 2,800 paid members of the current KSEX website will be migrated to the new KSEX website, which Brandi describes as “a MySpace community website.”
Well is it under 100 or 2800 members? Obviously the team of Belinkie & Brandi can’t quite agree. But, either way, it does make a great drink.
