Las Vegas- A dispute inside Spearmint Rhino topless club led to a shooting in the parking lot early Wednesday morning, leaving one man dead and another in critical condition, Las Vegas police said.
Las Vegas police responded at 3:19 a.m. to the club, at 3344 S. Highland Drive, and found two victims, both shot several times, Las Vegas police Lt. Lew Roberts said.
The surviving victim, whom police would not identify, was found in the passenger seat of a Chevrolet Caprice with gunshot wounds to the torso.
The dead man, identified by the Clark County coroner’s office as Kahil Robinson, 25, of North Las Vegas, was found near the rear driver’s side door with gunshot wounds to the chest and legs.
Roberts said police think that three suspects had an argument with the two victims while in the club earlier and that it escalated to violence as the victims were leaving the parking lot.
Police think the suspects fired from two 9 mm handguns and left the scene in a small silver vehicle and a new gold Cadillac, Roberts said.
Police have not identified the suspects, Roberts said. He said he hopes witnesses and surveillance footage provided by the club will lead to arrests.
Homicide detectives think they have come up with descriptions of the three suspects after talking to several witnesses at the scene, Roberts said.
One is a black male adult wearing dark-colored jeans, a red and white polo shirt and a red baseball cap. Another suspect is a black male adult wearing a plaid red, black and white shirt and a red baseball cap. The third suspect is a bald white male wearing a blue polo shirt.
Both victims were taken to University Medical Center, Roberts said. The surviving victim is in critical condition; Robinson died at the hospital.
The shooting is the second this week in the parking lot of a Las Vegas strip club. A California man was fatally shot Monday evening while in his vehicle in the parking lot of Larry’s Villa, a strip club at Bonanza Road and Rancho Drive.
“Do these places attract bad people? Some could make that argument, but I haven’t noticed any more problems with strip clubs compared to anywhere else,” Roberts said.
Representatives from Spearmint Rhino denied requests for comment Wednesday. One club manager said he makes “more (money) than three (reporters)” and did not want to be fired for talking to the media.
After the shooting, the club was closed to customers until about 1 p.m. Wednesday.
