Paris Hilton just could be the only person in America by now who hasn’t watched her infamous X-rated video.
“I haven’t seen the tape yet,” Hilton says in the new issue of Us Weekly, when asked about the three-minute clip that’s been analyzed more than the Zapruder tape. “I don’t want to.”
The 22-year-old wild child says the scandal over the video with ex-boyfriend Rick Salomon that’s rocked her moneyed world has left her “just so embarrassed.”
“I can’t walk the streets,” she said. “It’s too embarrassing. I don’t want to go out anymore. I don’t want to party. This has really made me think about changes I want to make.”
Hilton spoke with an Us Weekly reporter during a plane ride from Australia where she was when Tapegate emerged.
Her sister Nicky defended Paris in the furor over the sex tape – which was made three years ago, but has now become the rage of the Internet. “She was young and she made a mistake,” Nicky Hilton told the magazine. “Who hasn’t?”
Meanwhile, the hotel heiress appears to have pulled out of a scheduled appearance with late night host David Letterman next week. Letterman has made her the butt of many jokes.
The Letterman appearance was booked long before the video became public – and was set up to talk about her new reality show, “The Simple Life,” which launches on Fox Dec. 2.
A CBS spokeswoman said yesterday Hilton would still be on Letterman. But Hilton sources told the Daily News she’s not going to appear.
Among the jokes Letterman has made about her was a recent Top 10 List with her “explanations” for making the sex video, including: “He swore there was no tape in the camera.”
Besides her new TV show, Hilton will appear in publicity pictures alongside a hearse to promote a TV comedy pilot called “Uncle Davver’s Really Scary Movie Show.”
