from www.onenewsnow.com – The Los Angeles porn industry vows to overturn a measure passed by voters that requires actors to wear protection while performing. Porn filmmakers say the law violates their First Amendment right of free expression and would drive production out of the state.

According to Fox News, it is possible that a planned court challenge against Measure B would throw out the law before its implementation.

Pat Trueman, president of Morality in Media (MIM), does not think the industry’s argument against Measure B is solid.

“Hardcore pornography has only a tiny measure of protection at all,” he notes.

“Such pornography is presumptively protected until there’s a court determination otherwise, and the likelihood is here that the porn industry is saying in reality that the illegal pornography that we want to produce can be produced any way that we want, and that seems to fly in the face of the law.”

Though it may take months for the county to implement the mandate, it remains uncertain whether officials will enforce Measure B by visiting sets, or by viewing footage to determine if the rules are being followed.

Trueman asserts that if law is implemented, Los Angeles’ $1 billion-plus industry will suffer a small hit.

“Oh, I think they will lose some money, and they will probably film in other states, then more-so than in Los Angeles,” the MIM president predicts.

“But anything that disrupts the porn industry is probably a very good thing.”
