WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. — Police are investigating the possible murder of an amateur model from Woodland Hills after finding bloody items, including documents bearing the woman’s name, in a trash bin.
Iryna Singerman, 21, was last seen near her West Los Angeles home, where she lives with her husband, on Monday evening, according to police, who said she has not been answering her cell phone.
Her 2005 Mercedes-Benz was found parked in the driveway of a home in the 5000 block of Medina Road in Woodland Hills, which is rented by a 57-year-old man named Brian Joseph Cullen, said Los Angeles police Detective Jennifer Hickman.
Cullen, who also goes by the name Mark Corbett and has described himself as a financial adviser, has a criminal record, “but we’re not going into that now,” Hickman said.
Singerman, who did occasional modeling work, “apparently had a romantic and business relationship with Cullen,” the detective said.
Police found two plastic bags containing “bloody” items belonging to Singerman at his rented home and in a trash bin in the 6000 block of Canoga Ave., detectives said.
“The bags that were found in the Dumpster on Canoga contained items that had an extensive amount of blood,” LAPD Detective Rick Swanston said at a news conference at the department’s West Valley Station in Reseda.
“Among these items were paper documents in Singerman’s name,” he said. “When we served the search warrant on Medina, we found blood evidence and other evidence foul play had taken place in the home.”
Corbett is 5 feet 11 inches tall and 185 pounds. He may be driving a 2005 gray Ford Focus hatchback with the California license plate 5PBS947.
The missing woman is 5 feet 7 inches and 105 pounds, with dark brown hair and green eyes.
