from www.dailymail.co.uk – The New York Congressman under fire for allegedly sending a crotch picture to a female student faced fresh controversy today after it emerged he follows a string of glamorous women on Twitter.

Anthony Weiner has almost 50,000 fans on the social networking site, but he has chosen to follow just 198 in return – many of whom are attractive young females, and include a porn star, ‘Miss Ginger Lee’.

Yesterday the 46-year-old desperately tried to dodge questions from reporters about the photograph of a pair of bulging underpants sent from his Twitter account to a pretty 21-year-old student in Seattle last Friday.

He claims his account was attacked and the picture posted as a prank, but the allegations have once again focussed attention on Mr Weiner’s playboy past.

The Democratic representative used to have a reputation as one of Capitol Hill’s most eligible bachelors.

He dated a string of high-profile glamorous women, and even tried to pursue a congress intern just days after the September 11 attacks.

His marriage last year to Huma Abedin, one of Hillary Clinton’s aides, seemed to have put a stop to rumours about his womanising ways – until last Friday, when the crotch shot was posted on his Twitter account.

Since then, commentators have pointed to a host of beautiful young women he follows on the social networking site – where he uses his high school yearbook photo as his profile picture.

They include women with names such as thedreamergirl, N_Y N_Y Girl, kittenXpoker and ladyfoxfyre. Others are listed as fermdennytraci, Arialrene, Kim Pham and RachCam.

One woman, Nicole Aquino – listed as puccaxpink – told the New York Post she was surprised when Mr Weiner asked to follow her – because she’s ‘not in politics’.

The pretty New Jersey nurse said: ‘He tweeted me back asking if I thought it was all right if he could follow me. I was flattered he wanted to follow me back. I’m not in politics. I followed him originally.’

There appears to be little reason for Mr Weiner to follow some of the women, who list their main interests as fashion and partying.

Many of them follow the lawmaker after he makes appearances on television. He then replies, saying ‘thanks so much for following me. Would you like me to follow you? Use #WeinerYes’.

One of those followers, porn star ‘Miss Ginger Lee’ [pictured] posted gushing messages about a direct message she received from Weiner.

‘He thanked me for the shout-outs and said he likes my blog. (I died a little inside…in a good way.),’ she Tweeted.

In another message she wrote: ‘You know it’s a good day when you wake up to a DM from @RepWeiner. (I’m a fangirl, y’all, he’s my trifecta of win.)’

On her Twitter profile she lists a number of gifts she would like her admirers to buy for her. They include erotic underwear and jewellery.

It has also been reported that a high school student messaged Weiner about her prom. He is said to have began following her but later unsubscribed.

Mr Weiner gathered the female followers before the close-up of a bulge in a pair of man’s grey boxer briefs was tweeted to pretty college student Gennette Cordova from Seattle.
