from www.detnews.com -Detroit — A porn star charged in the Miami Companions case has reached a plea deal with federal prosecutors, her lawyer said today.

Nayubet Swaso aka Sierra Sanchez [pictured], who worked as an escort before graduating to the porn industry, is expected to plead guilty to one count of persuading or enticing someone to engage in prostitution, defense lawyer David Nacht told The Detroit News today.

The charge, punishable by up to 20 years in prison, was outlined in paperwork filed today in U.S. District Court in Detroit. She is likely to face much less time in prison, but Nacht declined comment on a possible sentencing guideline range.

Swaso, 24, was indicted last year and charged with conspiracy to coerce and entice prostitution and conspiracy to commit money laundering.

According to a felony information filed today, Swaso persuaded or enticed a woman named “Stephanie” to travel to Metro Detroit in July 2008 to engage in prostitution.

Nacht would not comment when asked if she is cooperating against Miami Companions co-owner Greg Carr, who prosecutors describe as the mastermind of the sex ring.

Swaso is a North Carolina native who moved to Panama with her aunt and uncle, who later abandoned her. A few years ago, she answered an ad for a job in the Miami Companions call center in Panama.

She started working as a Miami Companions escort in 2009 and later worked as a porn star under the pseudonym “Sierra Sanchez.”

“My client is a woman who was victimized from a young age,” Nacht said. “She was enticed into working for a criminal enterprise without realizing it. And then things picked up from there.”

Though it’s unclear how much prison time she could potentially receive, two other Miami Companions co-defendants who are cooperating with investigators are facing up to 12 months in prison.

Miami Companions co-owner Laurie Carr pleaded guilty Oct. 22 to conspiracy to coerce and entice prostitution and conspiracy to commit money laundering. She could get 12 months in prison when sentenced later this month.

And Miami Companions office manager Michelle “Mickey” Matarazzo could get seven months in prison after pleading guilty to conspiracy to coerce and entice prostitution.

The FBI and U.S. Attorney’s Office busted the international escort service in July.

The Miami-based sex ring dispatched dozens of prostitutes to hotels and beachfront villas around the world. Detroit was one of the alleged sex ring’s busiest stops in the United States, according to prosecutors.

Greg Carr has asked for more time to file pre-trial motions and review evidence against him, namely the escort service’s black book containing more than 30,000 client names.

The request, filed late Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Detroit, asked to extend the motions deadline date to Jan. 25. Federal prosecutors do not object to the extension, according to the filing.

The extension would not alter the March 22 trial date, though both sides are engaged in plea talks and it’s unclear if the trial will be held.

Carr, 44, a Dearborn Heights native, is facing 11 counts of conspiracy to coerce and entice prostitution, coercion and enticement of prostitution, and conspiracy to commit money laundering. The most severe charge carries a 20-year, $500,000 penalty.

The government recently reached an agreement with Carr’s lawyer Paul DeCailly over access to the escort service’s black book, which includes client names, contact information, job details and sexual preferences.

The government will produce printouts of clients from the 734, 248, 586 and 313 area codes and a list of Miami Companions employees and vendors.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office will produce, for inspection only, an electronic copy of the client database, which must be reviewed by DeCailly at the FBI office in Tampa, Fla., where the attorney maintains an office.
