Porn valley- 50 Cent is ready to reload.
The original edition of The Massacre was the top seller of the first half of 2005, crushing the competition when it was released in March. The rapper’s sophomore collection has already sold more than 6 million copies worldwide.
Interscope Records says the “new” version of Massacre will feature a video for each track in addition to a remix version of “Outta Control.”
“No artist has ever done this before,” boasts Fiddy, born Curtis Jackson, in a press release. “I’m the king of originality.”
None of the new videos (save the currently airing “Outta Control”) will have the half-million-dollar-budget look of clips like Jackson’s “Candy Shop”; instead, the spots will have a decidedly “street” feel.
“The videos allow consumers to see exactly what I was thinking about when I made the music,” Jackson says.
Apparently, the hip-hop king was thinking of nothing but booty when he wrote “Disco Inferno.”
Among the most controversial videos on the new Massacre is the chart-topper’s visual interpretation of that hit track, which features a bevy of porn stars and topless strippers. The Queens native shot the clip himself earlier this year at Hollywood’s Concorde club–one that surely will not wind up in heavy rotation MTV. The X-rated video is full of girl-on-girl kissing scenes and gratuitous ass-shaking.
A few of the new videos for Massacre tracks are actually animated, Interscope publicist Greg Miller confirmed Monday.
While the “Candy Shop” purveyor is prepping the improved Massacre, he’s being dissed by several of his peers.
Prison-bound diva Lil’ Kim’s forthcoming record reportedly takes a shot at Fiddy, according to MTV News, questioning just how “hard” the laconic hip-hopper can be while living in a posh Connecticut suburb.
Meanwhile, his onetime partner the Game also is upset. After publicly slamming Fiddy at a June concert in New Jersey, the Compton rapper confirmed reports that indeed the feud is back on between him and his former mentor.
And, over the weekend, Nas reportedly slammed 50 Cent during a set at the Rock the Bells festival outside Los Angeles.
But not every encee is gunning for Fiddy; respected Queens rap duo Mobb Deep recently signed with his label, G-Unit Records and appear on the new version of “Outta Control.”
Cynical types might be quick to note that the rerelease of Massacre is timed to generate hype ahead of the November release of his debut feature film, the semi-autobiographical Get Rich or Die Tryin’, which he just finished shooting.
Fiddy plays a solo show Thursday in North Carolina before rejoining the Anger Management 3 tour.
