NEW YORK: EPIX has scored the U.S. broadcasting and streaming rights to the feature-length documentary Filthy Gorgeous: The Extraordinary World of Bob Guccione, centered on the founder of Penthouse magazine.

Production will begin this fall, with a premiere on EPIX slated for the fall of 2013. From filmmaker Barry Avrich, Filthy Gorgeous tells the story of Guccione, a recluse and self-destructive optimist who went from being powerful and worth millions to nearly dying penniless. The doc is a Melbar Entertainment Group production in association with EPIX, Astral’s The Movie Network and Corus Entertainment’s Movie Cental, with funding from Rogers Telefund, CAVCO and the OMDC.
