from www.thejakartapost.com – The South Jakarta prosecutor’s office will execute the Supreme Court’s ruling that found Indonesian chief editor of Playboy adult magazine, Erwin Arnada, guilty of indecency and sentenced him to two years in jail term.
Chief of the prosecutor’s office Muhammad Yusuf said on Wednesday state prosecutors would send the convict to jail as soon as they receive a copy of the Supreme Court’s verdict.
“I have ordered the investigators to execute the ruling immediately after they obtain the copy,” Yusuf said as quoted by Antara news agency.
The prosecutors appealed the South Jakarta District Court’s decision to acquit Erwin from all charges in July 2007. The panel of judges said in its verdict at that time that photographs presented as evidence during Erwin’s trial could not be categorized as pornography.
Following violent protests from hard-line Islamic groups, the magazine’s office was relocated from Jakarta to Denpasar.
