New York – www.dnainfo.com – An R&B singer arrested for allegedly soliciting sex from an undercover police officer he believed was a prostitute pleaded guilty to a disorderly conduct charge Friday.
Michael Archer, whose best known as D’Angelo, the singer who appeared nude in the video for his 2000 hit “How Does it Feel,” left the courthouse quickly, ignoring reporters’ request for comments after entering his plea.
The 37-year-old performing artist was arrested on March 6, 2010 at about 2:25 a.m., after he approached to the the disguised police officer at Greenwich and Bethune streets in his Range Rover and tried to pay $40 for oral sex, according to the charges.
His lawyer, Stacey Richman, declined to comment on the charges or the plea deal. She said the singer is still working and plans to release another album in the near future.
He will not be required to do community service. Under the terms of his plea, he pleaded guilty to a violation, not a crime, under the penal code.
