He also stated that Ben Rush and Alter Sin crafted a "twisty and terrifying narrative that perfectly straddles adult entertainment and the bloodcurdling thriller genre," and praised the cast as "phenomenal."
Ben Rush commented on the feature, noting a "huge overlap between horror and LGBTQ+ audiences," and stated that "The Devil You Know" targets this demographic. Rush also mentioned that he and Alter Sin were "meticulous in crafting a story and visuals that are at once scary and sexy."

Ben Rush wrote the script for "The Devil You Know" and co-directed the feature with Alter Sin. Sir Peter expressed his immediate interest in the project after reading Ben Rush’s script. He noted a shared "deep love for the genre" among gay men who grew up watching horror movies, stating that "those movies shaped a lot of who we were as young queer guys." He specifically referenced the "classic ’80s horror logic: If you have sex, you die," and expressed a desire to bring that "spirit into the 21st century—make it fun, current and unapologetically queer." Sir Peter also stated that he "always rooted for the villain because I think villains are misunderstood."
