The Texas-specific “revenge porn” website named in a lawsuit filed by a Beaumont attorney has once again made its pornographic content unavailable to the public.
Several paragraphs on the website’s main page claim that large amounts of traffic from national media reports have caused capacity issues for the site. The site continues is often unavailable because of recurring server errors.
“We are currently assessing the current controversial issues at hand, but even though we may not agree with what this website has evolved into due to submissions and comments of public viewers of the website, we find no wrong doing from the website, which has only been a framework for the public viewers to build upon,” the statement reads.
The site’s administrators say they find negative public backlash “disheartening” and contend that the site “provided an outlet for anger that prevented physical violence” against women.
Beaumont attorney John Morgan filed the lawsuit – on behalf of more than two dozen local women – two weeks ago, asserting that the site violates Texas privacy laws. Since then, Morgan and two women involved in the suit have participated in several national media reports about the story as they attempt to bring attention to the lawsuit and advocacy websites like EndRevengePorn.com.
