Rodger Jacobs Pens Tome “18 and XXX”

Porn Valley- Why are so many 18-year old women choosing porn as a viable career option?

That’s the question award-winning journalist, author, and screenwriter Rodger Jacobs answers in his forthcoming book “18 and XXX.”

“There’s a sick amount of money to be made in adult entertainment,” Jacobs writes in his cover story for Eye Magazine, ‘Arrested Development.’ “I’ve seen big stars making $10,000 and $20,000 a week. But there is a high cost for choosing carnal cinema as a career.”

For “18 and XXX” Jacobs interviewed fifteen young women who entered the adult entertainment business at the tender but legal age of 18 years; that is a time, Jacobs asserts, when most young women barely have “the coping mechanisms to deal with the harsh realities of life, let alone the realities a career in porn slaps you with.”

A career in porn, says Jacobs, stigmatizes most young women for their entire lives, “but when the options are a minimum wage job or anywhere between $300 and $1200 for a single sex scene in a porn video, it is easy to see why carnality on camera becomes the path most traveled.”

As a feature in The Los Angeles Times (04/23) indicates, porn is “so common in the Digital Age that teens see it as part of the culture. If it’s corrupting them, the data doesn’t yet show it.”

Rodger Jacobs has written for Hustler, Adult Video News, Swank, and was the editor in chief of New Rave. He is also an award-winning feature documentary producer (“Wadd: The Life and Times of John C. Holmes”) and the author of “Christopher Walken and the Tuna Fish Sandwich and Other L.A. Stories.”

No publisher has been firmed for “18 and XXX” but Jacobs hopes the book’s immediate appeal will attract a host of high-end publishers.
