TV Valley -Reality continues to run amok on the tube this weekend with the return of “The Surreal Life” Sunday at 9 p.m. on WB.
“The Surreal Life” is another one of those house parties where people sit around and trade insults. There’s no contest or prize for surviving the dozen days contestants are cooped up together. The big drawing card is supposed to be their celebrity status, but the reality here is these people are a bunch of has-beens or never-weres.

Heading the list is Tammy Faye Messner, the former Tammy Faye Bakker, whose chief claim to fame is being the one-time wife of evangelist Jim Bakker. She’s also famous for the worst makeup job since Raggedy Ann. Oddly enough, Messner comes off as the most interesting member of the troupe.

The motley crew also includes former porn star, Ron Jeremy who appears to be a bit out of shape for porn-movie antics now. We see him getting his bowling-ball belly and back shaved for this appearance. Toss in Erik Estrada, best known for his toothy smile on “CHiPs” more than a quarter-century ago, and Rob Van Winkle, former rap star Vanilla Ice. His role is to toss tantrums.

So, let the bickering begin. It’s about the only thing that might keep the audience awake.
