SPOKANE, Wash. – The superintendent of a Washington state school district resigned this month over charges that stemmed from a traffic stop — during which a sheriff’s deputy found marijuana in his SUV, ABC affiliate KXLY reported.
Christopher Gregory was arrested on Aug. 23 following the traffic stop across the border near Plummer, Idaho. Authorities said Gregory was suspicious because of the manner he was answering questions.
For example, officials say he paused for a few moments when first asked whether he had any drugs inside his vehicle. Eventually, Gregory reportedly admitted to having marijuana in a bag and a pot-smoking pipe — but said he took it from a student’s locker.
Gregory was arrested and placed in the back of a patrol car, while the deputy further searched the SUV. In addition to the drugs, officials said that various sex toys, a leather whip, female clothing, creams and condoms were also discovered.
Gregory pleaded guilty to drug-related charges on Sept. 2 and resigned from the school district. As part of his guilty plea, Gregory must perform community service, pay fines and serve a year of unsupervised probation.
