Serenity posts on http://www.serenity.net/news.html: – The Las Vegas Spectacular!
Last night I was lucky enough to attend the 1st showing of the Phantom of the Opera at the Venetian Hotel Phantom of the Opera at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. My local friend, Richard Abowitz of The Movable Buffet invited me and afterwards had some intense discussions into the symbolism of the storyline, of which I won’t go into detail here. I had a great time and wanted to share with you what I thought of the show.
It is amazing to think in terms of the amount of money spent on this show, $40 million dollars on the theatre alone. But, once the show begins it is evident that this production is extravagant. Phantom of the Opera was condensed into 95 minutes so details of the story may be missed, however the show included every song from the original and moved at an incredible pace without truly sacrificing the story. The props and costumes were lavish. Live sound issues from the orchestra pit, which was a pleasant surprise. Of course, there were special effects as it is Las Vegas, but they were done in such a way to compliment the show and story line. Now last but not least, we have come to the cast! Wow! Absolutely amazing! They were not only superbly talented, but also incredibly good looking. Phantom of the Opera will not disappoint you. I highly recommend this show!
