Shelley Lubben fights her past in porn: “Porn the Most Degrading Experience of My Life”

The only thing degrading about porn is approaching potential advertisers.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — from www.bakersfieldnow.com – Local woman Shelley Lubben worked in the adult film industry producing various films under the name “Roxy.”

Now, she fights against porn.

“Porn was the most degrading experience of my life,” she said during a chilling 45-minute interview Tuesday.

She talked about how her lifestyle led her to drugs, alcohol and prostitution. It would be another ailment that ended her film career.

“The turning point for me is when I caught genital herpes, a noncurable disease,” Lubben said.

She now spends her days working as an anti-porn advocate for a group called the Pink Cross Foundation. Lubben said she works to keep women from making the same mistakes she did.

In a recent study conducted by Nielsen, one-in-three women watches porn on the Internet. Lubben said the increase in consumption by women is to please the men in their lives, and not for their own enjoyment.

“Their husbands and boyfriends are making a demand on them, ‘Perform like a porn star, or you’re out of here,'” Lubben said.

Lubben, a married mother of three, said she hopes that sharing her experiences can spare some family a lot of pain.
