GENEVA – A Web site named for Spike Lee is actually a link to Internet porn – which is why the famed New York movie director turned to the UN for help.
A UN agency ruled yesterday that the Filipino operator of spikelee.com was misusing the domain name, and will automatically transfer ownership of the Web address to Lee within 10 days unless the loser, Mercedita Kyamko, launches a court case challenging the decision. Kyamko registered Spikelee.com in 1999.
Lee joins other entertainers, including Madonna, Celine Dion and Eminem, who have won cybersquatting cases through the UN’s World Intellectual Property Organization, based in Geneva.
