Stripper drops complaint against Grdina

The Babe’s Cabaret stripper who accused the husband of porn star Jenna Jameson of assault has dropped her complaint, Scottsdale police said Wednesday.

The stripper, Amanda Vasquez, originally told detectives that Jay Grdina – who co-owns Babe’s Cabaret with Jameson – pulled her hair and pushed her head toward the ground July 22 during a lap dance at the club.

Vasquez, 22, said she no longer works at Babe’s, and that she no longer is interested in pressing misdemeanor assault charges against Grdina because she plans to move to Spain, police said.

“She told detectives that she didn’t want to prosecute, that she didn’t want to cooperate . . . , that she didn’t wish to return (in the future from Spain) to appear in court,” said Scottsdale police Sgt. Mark Clark.

Former NBA star Dennis Rodman was sitting at the same table as Grdina during Vasquez’s lap dance, police said.

Vasquez, who was not seriously injured in the July incident, dropped her complaint Monday after detectives explained the criminal investigation process – that witnesses would be interviewed and that she would be required to testify in court.

Babe’s, 2011 N. Scottsdale Road, and the city’s other strip club, Skin Cabaret at 1137 N. Scottsdale Road, are the targets of a Sept. 12 referendum, Proposition 401, which would impose strict new regulations on the city’s adult-oriented businesses.

Specifically, the new ordinance, passed unanimously by the City Council in December, would require that dancers and patrons remain at least 4 feet apart, preventing them from touching and effectively banning lap dances.

Grdina, Jameson and Babe’s management could not be reached for comment, nor have they returned calls for comment on past stories.

Recent headlines on celebrity gossip Web sites suggest that Jameson is now dating rock star Dave Navarro, who recently split from actress Carmen Electra.

On her MySpace.com page, Jameson suggests that she and Grdina are going through “a very rough time.”
