Porn Valley- Tranny party entrepreneur Allanah Starr was a guest of Sports Swami Friday. New York Magazine has written a couple of articles on Starr who now writes for them as occasion warrants. “I think I was the first transsexual they profiled,” said Starr. “And for the Republican National Convention they were doing a big piece on sex workers in New York. I worked on that as well. They’re pretty open-minded. They’re PC but they’re moderate.”
Starr lives in New York but was born in Cuba. “My family migrated to the U.S. when I was four year old,” says Starr. Starr grew up in Miami. She’s lived in New York City for the past six years. “I’ve been doing porn stuff for the last two years.” Starr reported that she got her “transformation” in Miami.
Swami suspected Starr’s bringing in the transgender role to Cuban machismo must have gone over big in Miami. Starr said most transsexuals tend to be from a Latin culture, or are black. “And a lot of Asian as well,” she adds. “My family, luckily, is very accepting she says. “My father’s still very macho and has a very macho mentality. But I was never really close to my father. I was much more close to my mother. She grew to accept my lifestyle and was very understanding. Now she’s totally accepting as well as the rest of my family- my siblings and my grandparents.”
Starr said she was very lucky in that sense whereas many people in her situation aren’t. “Their family disowns them or never speak to them again because there is that big macho mentality. If you’re born a boy you have to get married and have ten kids and work in construction. The Latino culture can be very unforgiving towards people like me.”
Swami suggested that maybe Starr was “tinkering with God’s will.”
“If God made you to be a man, you’re a man,” she said. “If God wanted you to be a woman you’re a woman. You’re changing body parts, literally, to become a different kind of person.” Starr asked what if you don’t believe in God but stressed that she does believe, personally.
“But if you’re going to use that argument, people who are transgendered are born with a gender identity disorder, a GID,” said Starr. “That means it’s something you’re born with, not something you develop. The only treatment is an operation and hormone therapy and living life as the opposite sex.”
Starr said she was born in a male body but never liked anything masculine. “I wasn’t attracted to any cars, guns, things like that. I always wanted to play with my sister’s toys.” Starr said she was 14, because she was so effeminate, her parents took her to a chromosomal doctor. “I have a system which is called XXY,” Starr explains. “Which means I have one extra chromosome where most people are X & Y. They took me to a psychologist and I had all this testing. They didn’t diagnose my GID but they said I was extremely feminine and I had a very high very feminine level. Someone like me is basically born this way. Then we have to correct our bodies. You’re saying you’re changing what nature gave you but nature makes mistakes and there’s mutations. There are people born with physical deformities and abnormalities. I think I was born with a physical handicap- I was born male with a female mind.”
Starr said science has given us the ability to change our bodies. “This is what I’ve done to make myself happy and live my life happy,” she said.”If I didn’t live like this I’d probably be miserable. And I don’t answer to anyone but myself.”
Swami asked Starr why she didn’t just become a homosexual man instead of go through all the changes. According to Starr, homosexuality and transsexualism have nothing to do with one another. “There are millions of gay men who don’t want to be women,” Starr pointed out. “That is a common misconception. Gender has nothing to do with sexuality. There are lesbians who remain women who like other women. There are men who remain men who like other men. And the other way goes around for heterosexual people. Transsexuality has nothing to do with sexuality. There are many transsexuals who are attracted to other women. There are transsexuals who are attracted to other men. This simply has to do with gender.”
Starr came out of the closet when she was 16 years old. “I was very unhappy. I didn’t fit in with homosexuals because I was effeminate.” Starr said in most homosexual cultures, masculinity is revered. “As you can see they all usually have wonderful bodies and like masculine men.”
For her part, Starr prefers men, sexually. “But my gender is another thing. And I had to transform my body to look like a woman.” Starr went on to say that as a transsexual, she faces a lot of discrimination. “Even within the adult entertainment industry which is supposed to be very liberal and very open minded.
“I always say transsexual pornography is like the bastard child of the industry,” she states. “It has a huge following. It’s considered a fetish. If you look at any of the top rentals or sales for fetish videos, transsexual titles are always at the top. But no one admits to this because they’re afraid of being judged as gay or whatever.” Because she was looking for a publicist that would represent her, Starr chose Jason Sechrest, www.jasoncurious.com. Starr said she had talked with several publicist who declined taking her on. Finally Starr wrote to Sechrest. “He offered me to do a column and I started writing for his website. I said if you do publicity work, I would love to hire you as a publicist. I went to Los Angeles- we had a meeting and he’s been repping me for the last four months. It’s been going great.”
In addition to acting in films Starr does tranny parties in New York as well. “They’re the largest transgender parties in the USA,” she says. “They all have a theme; I do them monthly and the last one we had there was about 600 people.
“They’re more like adult entertainment parties.” Aside from writing for Sechrest’s website, www.jasoncurious.com Starr writes for several other magazines and is producing a tranny series similar to Girls Gone Wild. If Starr had a chance to work with one performer, it would be Jenna Jameson. “But I don’t see that happening,” she laughs.
Starr explains that there’s a lot of prejudice in the industry towards someone like herself. “I’ve heard of cases where genetic women won’t work with transsexuals. But it would be great. She’s the biggest star out there and the most visible. I think it would open a lot of doors.” Starr said she didn’t know Jameson personally but thinks Jameson’s open-minded and down to earth. “Who knows if she would do it or not?” If it were to happen, said Starr, it would attract a lot of attention and a lot of viewers.
Among her goals, Starr said she’d love to take her party on the road. “I would love to do one in L.A.” Starr would also like to have “bigger boobs- bigger hair- bigger heels, longer eyelashes.”
All told, Starr’s had 27 cosmetic surgeries so far. “And over 50 cosmetic procedures. The initial thing is that you have to start on hormones. Then you start having surgery and electrolysis to get rid of facial hair.” Starr said she’s a perfectionist who takes things to the extreme. “I usually have more things done or redo the same thing over again or touch it up. But I’ve been like this for 8 years now.” Starr notes that she’s a work in progress. “I’m not done yet. It depends how far you want to take it and how you want to look and what your aspirations are.” Swami wondered the procedure involved for when the crown jewels are taken away.
“I think the condition to do that medically,” said Starr, “is you have to be on hormones for a year; and you have to have two letters from two separate psychoanalysts who evaluate you. That surgery itself is only four hours long- you don’t have to have breast implants and a nose job. You can just be on hormones and be evaluated. But I’m very finicky with my appearance and I’ve had a lot of work done. But as far as when I’m going to have the surgery I’m not really sure because right now I’m exploiting myself as a pre-operative transsexual. Maybe eventually someday I’ll go that route.”
Swami explored the romantic possibilities of being transgender. Starr said she’d always be up front with the person about her condition but doesn’t think she’d like to have children of her own. “I’m not interested in having children.”
Starr said she could have had final surgery but it’s not a priority for her. “I’m not uncomfortable with my genitals right now. It’s not something that causes me mental agony. Right now I’m popular as is, and I’m more of a novelty as is.”
