The Dane/Gayheart Sex Tape now has Registered title, credits

from www.thesmokinggun.com – Two days after a video showing them frolicking naked was posted online, actors Eric Dane and Rebecca Gayheart rushed to register a copy of the risque “motion picture” with the United States Copyright Office.

The 12-minute production, which was disclosed by Gawker.com on August 17, now has a formal title, “ED-RG-KAP Video,” according to copyright records.

The title includes the initials of the video’s three stars, the least known of which is Kari Ann Peniche, a former Miss Teen USA. Dane, 36, and Gayheart, 38, are each credited as director and cinematographer of the short film, which was shot last year in Peniche’s Los Angeles bedroom.

While Dane, who stars in ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy,” has not previously directed or lensed a film, Gayheart helmed “Me and Daphne,” a film she copyrighted in late-2001. Dane and Gayheart [this week] filed a lawsuit against Gawker and reporter Mark Ebner for posting the married couple’s sex tape.

The U.S. District Court complaint was drafted by Lavely & Singer, the L.A. law firm that handled last month’s copyright registration process.
