WWW- IT seems the reading public just can't get enough books about life inside the fabled Playboy Mansion.
The latest tome from one of Hugh Hefner's ex-girlfriends is "Bunny Tales," by Izabella St. James, which chronicles her two years in Hef's harem.
The book, due Aug. 21 from Running Press, details all of the luxurious perks of living at the L.A. mansion, but also chronicles the downside. There was a 9 p.m. curfew for the girls, and "sex night" occurred only twice a week - yet they were not allowed to have any boyfriend other than Hef.
Hefner told Page Six's Sarah Polonsky, "What can I say? Some of them [the girlfriends] get a life [after their time at the mansion] and some of them write books. I put her through law school, and I see she's choosing not to use it. I wish her well."
This will be the second tell-all about what goes on inside the mansion. The first, "Jill Ann: Upstairs," by former Playmate Jill Ann Spaulding, described the place as a "brokerage house where dangerous sex is traded for stardom." PAGE SIX reported the release of the tome in 2004 and spoke with Hefner about Spaulding's claims, which he shrugged off as "silly."
The Playboy founder has been accused of sexually neglecting his girlfriends before. In 2001, his former squeeze Sandy Bentley was reported by Philadelphia magazine to have told convicted fraudster Mark Yagalla that "the heterosexual icon had trouble finding satisfaction through intercourse" and that "he liked the girls to pleasure each other while he watched gay porn."
Hefner told us back then, "The notion that Sandy and I were not having sex is ridiculous. That's either Yagalla's fantasy or her telling him something that isn't true. We had normal sexual relations for two years." He added, "It certainly wasn't gay porn."
These days, Hef has toned it down a tad - for him, that is. He currently has only three girlfriends - Holly, Bridget and Kendra. And for the first time he has allowed the public to get a peek as what life is like in the Playboy mansion with the E! reality television series "The Girls Next Door."
