Porn Valley- The Grand Vizier flew back from Tampa Florida over the weekend. He and Sonja, the $300 an hour dancer, had some falling out and they took separate planes home.
The first thing on The Vizier’s mind is not a broken heart, however, but Bud Lee’s comments regarding the AIM website being down. Bud, of course, now works for LA Direct, and The Vizier says LA Direct had a falling out with AIM upon which Derek took all his business to Talent Testing Services.
“I think Bud’s comments had some ulterior motive,” the Vizier laughs.
The Vizier also tells me word on the street is that Sin City’s ready to close its doors.
“It’s getting really, really bad,” says The Vizier. “They’re having directors sell DVDs in order to shoot the movies.”
“Come again?” I ask the Vizier, not really sure what I was saying.
“Sin City’s giving directors DVDs with instructions that they sell the product and raise money to shoot their movies. Directors are blowing 20,000 pieces out at 70 cents to fund them.”
“So if you want to direct a movie for Sin City you got to sell for them first, creating a revenue stream to subsidize your own movie?” I repeat, making sure of what I just heard.
“Right- that’s how bad it’s getting over there,” says The Vizier.
“So what happened to Skeeter?” I ask. “Skeeter doesn’t get on the phone selling movies.”
“Skeeter put up the money for his own movie but hasn’t been paid for it from months ago,” says The Vizier. “And then he shot a second movie. Other directors are owed money as well. Basically Sin City’s selling off their office and getting out of there. It’s an office fire sale. They even had Bud Lee over there hoping he’d get them Playboy. That’s why they have him shooting again. And Bud took that job with LA Direct because everything’s so slow.
“You didn’t think this was going to happen because GVA owned stores but even GVA’s slow pay and not taking much product,” says The Vizier. “IVD has now become the distributor you can count on with prompt pay.”
“And I never thought I’d be saying that,” laughs the Vizier.
