NEW YORK – from www.wcbstv.com ― Tiger Wood’s crash coupled with a tabloid report of marital infidelity has turned the spotlight on a 34-year-old Manhattan nightclub hostess named Rachel Uchitel.
Arriving in Los Angeles, Uchitel found herself, once again, the center of attention. In recent years she’s become a unique fixture on the New York nightclub scene, manning the velvet ropes.
“Usually the people in front of a club in charge of the velvet ropes are big thugs or sadistic little people who are over-compensating. You rarely ever see a woman, let alone a kind of busty blonde, very striking woman like Rachel,” said gossip columnist Michael Musto.
Uchitel first gained attention in the wake of September 11. She lost her fiance, Andy O’Grady, in the South Tower.
CBS 2 spoke to her a year later at Ground Zero. “When I think of Andy I no longer cry. I smile and I laugh. I’m at that point now. I can go on everyday knowing that somebody like him chose me to love,” Uchitel said.
In a published report, Uchitel’s mother said her daughter never truly recovered from that experience. Musto said her love life has recently been surrounded by rumors and scandals. “She’s been linked with a Broadway star,, TV star David Boreanus, Tiger Woods, on and on and on. She says none of it is true or sometimes she says she doesn’t kiss and tell.”
CBS 2’s Rob Morrison spoke directly with high profile attorney Gloria Allred Monday. She’s representing Uchitel. She said her client may be ready to speak to the media Tuesday.
The celebrity lawyer’s client list includes Amber Frey, the girlfriend of Scott Peterson who murdered his wife and unborn son, Paula Jones, who sued President Clinton for sexual harassment, and Paul McCartney’s ex-wife, Heather Mills.
