Houston- A burglary investigation apparently led to a raid of Treasures nite club in Houston where 11 dancers were arrested on various charges including prostitution. The arrests came after a report that one of the dancers named Lynette gave a customer a lap dance, offered to give him a blow job then went to his house for a night of sex for $700. While they went out to breakfast the next morning, the guy’s house was burglarized.
From The Houstonist: Following up on the report of a stripper/hooker/criminal who police say may be the ringleader of a home burglary group, cops last night raided Treasures, the Galleria-area strip club where the woman worked. HPD had reportedly had Treasures under surveillance for months, and during that time officers say they saw — hold onto your hats, now — dancers performing sex acts on patrons. In a strip club. We’re shocked and appalled.
Eleven dancers and a manager were arrested in last night’s sting, according to the Chronicle. “We made a prostitution case, a number of sexually oriented business violations,” HPD vice Capt. Steve Jett told KTRK. “Most of the girls in there — a third of the girls in there — do not have sexually oriented business licenses. There are about 125 girls in there and 42 did not have license at all.”
The suspect in the burglary case, who called herself Lynette, was not among those picked up last night. To refresh your memory about her: A while back, she was performing a lap dance for one of the club’s patrons and offered him oral sex for money. Instead, he paid her $700 to come back to his house and spend the night with him; in the morning, she asked him to take her to breakfast, and while they were gone, robbers stole a 42-inch plasma TV and two laptop computers from the guy’s house. Police believe Lynette was connected with the burglary and might have left a window open in the man’s house so the thieves could get in easily. Police are still on the lookout for her.
Houston– [from The Smoking Gun] In our continuing effort to chronicle law enforcement raids at strip clubs nationwide, TSG today brings you news of Wednesday night’s crackdown at a Texas establishment that resulted in the arrest of 11 female performers.
An undercover Houston Police Department investigation at the Treasures club netted the strippers on a variety of charges, including prostitution, performing lewd acts, and violations of statutes governing sexually-oriented businesses (such as the dreaded “three foot rule”).
The dancers–who range in age from 19 to 37–were booked into the Harris County jail. A male manager and two customers were also popped. Previous police raids have come in Tampa, Jacksonville, Arkansas, Casselberry, Florida, and Tampa again.
Back Story:So let’s be honest with each other: Everybody’s had an embarrassing incident where they began the night with a lap dance and ended up with their most expensive possessions being carried out of their house while they ate breakfast with a stripper wearing a borrowed T-shirt, right? Anyone?
Well, we know it isn’t just us: One guy’s already been through the same thing, and police say more may find themselves in similar situations if a lap dancer/prostitute/burglary ringleader stays on the streets. KTRK reports about the man’s experience: He went to Treasures one night and enjoyed a lap dance from a young woman who called herself Lynette. She offered to perform oral sex for money, but the guy — not one to pass up an opportunity, apparently — decided to pay her $700 for a night of sweet love at his home.
In the morning, Lynette wanted breakfast, so she and the guy went to Mama’s Cafe. While they ate — Lynette in a gray T-shirt she borrowed from the guy, he probably wondering if she expected him to pay for breakfast, too — burglars were stealing expensive electronics from the victim’s house. “When he got home, he found his home had been burglarized. They stole his 42-inch plasma television and two laptop computers,” Det. John Bohannon of the Bellaire Police Department told Channel 13. Police believe Lynette left a window open when she and the guy went to breakfast, giving the thieves easy entrance to the house.
Police have images of the woman from Mama’s surveillance camera.
