Scottsdale, Arizona- Two Babe’s Cabaret managers pleaded guilty this week to two misdemeanor charges stemming from a Scottsdale police investigation of the business last year.
Managers Dawn Godwin and Clayton Chase said they failed to wear identification badges, did not post the regulations of a sexually oriented business near the entrance and were not on the premises at all times while strippers were performing.
As part of the plea agreement, Godwin and Chase will be required to pay $866 each in fines, surcharges and probation costs and agree to 12 months of unsupervised probation. In exchange, four charges were dropped. The employees faced a maximum of six months in jail and a $2,500 fine for each charge.
Godwin and Chase could not be reached for comment. Their attorney, Clifford Girard, declined to comment. The plea deal was reached one day before Wednesday’s scheduled trial.
Babe’s Cabaret, 2011 N. Scottsdale Road, is partially owned by adult-film mogul Jenna Jameson. Six club strippers still face misdemeanor charges stemming from the August 2005 raid. Skin Cabaret owner Todd Borowsky and 14 club employees also face misdemeanor charges.
The police investigation was launched shortly after Jameson announced she was buying Babe’s. Less than four months later, the Scottsdale City Council enacted tougher regulations, which were overturned last week by Scottsdale voters with the defeat of Proposition 401.
