PHOENIX – Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson has registered as a sex offender in Arizona.Tyson, who spent three years in an Indiana prison on a rape conviction, registered Friday morning at the Maricopa County sheriff’s office, Lt. J.J. Tuttle said.

Tyson, convicted in 1992 of raping a beauty pageant contestant, has been living in Arizona for several months. The state requires convicted sex offenders to register with police.

The 37-year-old Tyson is expected to return to the ring against Kevin McBride on July 31. The fight would be the first for Tyson since Feb. 22, 2003, when he knocked out Clifford Etienne in 49 seconds in Memphis.
