UNION COUNTY, Tennessee — Students in a drama class at Union County High School were caught recently trying to make a porn movie between classes.
A male student served as the camera operator. Another was the MC. And a group of four female students stripped down to their underwear.
The students’ drama teacher walked in, caught them and immediately reported it to the principal.
“Personally, I think students see too much on TV. They like to mimic what they see on TV and of course they going to copy that,” says Union County Schools curriculum coordinator Wayne Goforth.
“For the most part, we have excellent students at Union County High School,” Goforth adds. “It is a learning experience and behavior and discipline is just part of their learning experience.”
Some of the students are special education students so their punishments vary. But all were suspended for at least two to three days.
The tape has been confiscated.
The drama teacher was on hall duty at the time the students tried to make the film so it was not against the rules for them to be in the classroom unsupervised.
6 News spoke with several students at the school who thought the incident was simply outrageous.
According to freshman John Chesney, “That was stupid. There was no reason for them to do it.”
Senior Zachary Calfe adds, “I think it’s kind of ridiculous that you could even get away with it at school. That’s the most obvious place that if you try to get it on you’re going to get caught. There’s people everywhere.”
And parents were even more concerned.
Lionel Tharp, a father of two students at the high school says, “Nowadays they feel like they can get away with anything. If teachers do something to discipline them they get in trouble, and so it’s just kids running wild more or less.”
