from www.dailymail.co.uk – A former school teacher and convicted sex offender who was on the run after cutting off her ankle monitor is back behind bars again after police arrested her in Chicago last night.

Cara Dickey had been on the run for weeks after authorities say she skipped parole after being confronted about a possible tryst with a young boy.

The U.S. Marshals Service issued a citation to Dickey for prostitution on February 13 in Chicago, where she was working under a different name, according to WKBW.

‘An individual was issued with appearance ticket by the Chicago police for prostitution. The individual used an alias and was released. Two days later, U.S. Marshals and the Chicago Police determined that the individual was Cara,’ said Charles Salina, U.S. Marshal for Western New York.

Dickey previously spent three years in prison for having an affair with a 14-year-old student.

The former South Buffalo Charter School educator was found guilty of rape in 2009 after admitting to carrying on a sexual relationship with one of her students and entering into a suicide pact with him, WIVB reported.

After serving three years behind bars, Dickey was released on parole last February and living in the Back to Basics Ministries’ halfway house. She also found a job working as a secretary for a candy distributor.

Not long before her disappearance, Dickey’s parole officer had received information that the woman may be involved with another minor, leading police to believe that she may have run away with her latest victim.

In March 2009, the middle school teacher and married mother-of-three pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree rape for carrying on an affair with a South Buffalo Charter School student in the summer of 2008.

It was also revealed that in June of that year, Dickey tried to get her teenage paramour to commit suicide with her by drinking a toxic concoction of Bacardi rum, Tylenol and Nyquil, according to The Buffalo News.

During her sentencing, Dickey made a tearful statement, telling the judge that she was ‘a good person who made a mistake,’ and begged her family to forgive her for her betrayal.

Her husband, Roy, however, filed for divorce shortly after her arrest, and it was finalized in 2010, according to public records.

The disgraced teacher was sentenced to four years in a medium-security prison and a $1,270 fine. She was also prohibited from contacting her victim until 2020.

Following a hearing in December 2011, Dickey was released on parole. She was set to remain on post-release supervision until February 2020.

On January 8, a parole officer questioned Dickey about another possible inappropriate liaison with a minor. Following that conversation, the convicted sex offender went missing.

Dickey has not been in contact with parole since last Tuesday. On Friday, WGRZ reported that officials had recovered her discarded ankle bracelet in a snow bank about four miles from her apartment.

That same day, a woman claiming to be the 34-year-old mother of three called Eyewitness News to set the record straight.

In a phone conversation, the caller told reporters that she is not involved in a romantic relationship with a boy, and is now in fact a lesbian.

According to the woman, she ran afoul of her parole officer for dating a female felon, who is also on parole. She then went on to explain that the boy officials had linked her to is actually her new girlfriend’s younger brother, saying that the three of them spent a ‘nice Christmas’ together.
Dickey added that she doesn’t like being a parolee because there are too many rules and restrictions, and she has no intention of turning herself in.

A $1,000 reward has been issued for her arrest. If she is caught, Dickey could be returned to prison for violating her parole.
